Iffin Equestrian

Bluebells

Local wildlife

You will commonly see foxes, rabbits and squirrels around Iffin Equestrian as well as a number of birds. Swallows nest each year. Kestrels regularly hover in search of a meal.

The skylark can be found on the land at Iffin Equestrian. The UK skylark population has fallen by 52% since 1970 largely due to changes in agricultural practices such as a move from spring to winter cereals, as well as intensified grassland management. Their habitat is grown for hay each year.

The brown hare has been seen regularly on Iffin Equestrian and the surrounding farmland. The drastic drop in numbers has caused concern and earned the him the dubious honour of being one of the first animals to be considered in the Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) programme. The BAP is encouraging efforts to more than double UK hare population to around the 2 million mark by 2010.
